CHAUMECA TECHNOLOGY equipment is used for various applications in refineries, mainly in processes like CCR (Continous Catalyst Reforming), for which CHAUMECA TECHNOLOGY designs and installs RLD (Nitrogen Regeneration Loop Dryers) that are used to dry and purify a nitrogen flow needed to regenerate catalysts involved in the aromatisation and octane index increase processes. Our RLDs bring the water content in nitrogen to 50 ppmv. Operating pressures are normally between 4 and 12 barg and flow rates can go up to 70.000 Nm3/h.
We also offer hydrogen, recover and purification systems, created using an adsorbent-based technology or microporous membranes. The hydrogen thus recovered can be recycled for many applications, thus avoiding the use of the flare.
Natural gas extracted from the ground has to be treated specifically before being transferred upstream. These drying and sweetening visent operations aim to extract the water, CO2 and sulphur through a molecular sieve, an activated alumina bed or by using microporous membranes. CHAUMECA TECHNOLOGY equipment is designed for this based on clear specifications and the particular composition of the gas to be treated.
CHAUMECA TECHNOLOGY equipment is found in cryogenic loops associated with the natural gas liquefaction processes. We supply Skids for these applications that include both compression and treatment of the nitrogen, to extract the CO2 and water in its compressed form. Operating pressures are normally between 4 and 40 barg and flow rates can be in the order of 75 Nm3/h. The aim is water contents less than 0.4 ppmv and CO2 contents less than 0.5 ppmv. The emphasis is on compact equipment given its use. The choice of materials and surface treatments are also features of this equipment, which are exposed to very aggressive environments.
Drying and inerting of gas pipelines
Pipes used to transport gas undergo hydraulic testing to make sure that the structure is strong enough for the operating conditions and also to check that it is leak tight. Following this operation, the pipes must be dried without fail to prevent the formation of hydrates and also meet the requirements for no moisture.
The CHAUMECA TECHNOLOGY adsorption dryers guarantee dry air, with a dew point low enough to drive a scraper that spreads the residual water onto the walls and thus helps it to evaporate.
Nitrogen drying works in exactly the same ways as dry air drying, using adsorption dryers, with an even lower dew point than for dry air (about -70°C). Inerting is the term applied when this nitrogen is used to reduce the presence of an oxidising agent and thus prevent risks of explosion.
