NITROGEN PURIFICATION
This is the ultimate purification of nitrogen (N2) from a PSA nitrogen generator or a membrane nitrogen generator.
The 'DEOXO' process recombines oxygen and hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst to produce water, which is then collected or discharged. The benefit of this operation is the obtaining of a nitrogen effluent almost free of oxygen or hydrogen (<1 ppm).
Such a unit can be advantageously complemented by an adsorption dryer and filters. This results in a gas of very high purity. The applications served by CHAUMECA TECHNOLOGY's 'DEOXO' units are those where it is necessary to use significant quantities of high-purity nitrogen such as:
- The continuous thermal treatment of steels in neutral atmospheres,
- The processes for transporting plastic pellets from synthesis units in petrochemicals (polyethylene).
- The cleaning of irradiated waste from the dismantling of nuclear plants, which is often carried out in a neutral atmosphere (nitrogen N2). CHAUMECA recombination units capture the low-concentration tritium (3H) found in nitrogen to allow the discharge of this effluent (pure nitrogen N2).
A CHAUMECA TECHNOLOGY 'DEOXO' unit operates without consuming energy, except if water is used for cooling after treatment.
HYDROGEN PURIFICATION
The same recombination process is used to purify a hydrogen stream containing some oxygen to reduce its content below ppm levels.
